Purchase Windows Server and SQL Server Subscriptions with Azure in CSP
News|11 July 2018
On 10 July 2018, Microsoft announced that Windows Server and SQL Server subscriptions are now available to purchase through the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) programme.
The ability to have a cost-effective way to support predictable cloud workloads is hugely important to customers. In May, Microsoft announced Azure Virtual Machine Reserved Instances being made available on the CSP programme, which gave many customers a more favourable purchasing model against pay-as-you-go. Now that Windows Server and SQL Server are available on CSP alongside Azure RI, this extends cost savings to a wider range of customers.
Customers who want to run predictable Windows Server and SQL Server workloads in Azure can now make use of a fixed 1 or 3-year subscription that works alongside Reserved Instances and Azure virtual machines to give customers massive cost savings. Savings of up to 72% for SQL Server and 92% for Windows Server, compared to the same model on PAYG on Azure.
In addition to these cost savings, customers will also benefit from the Azure Hybrid Benefit and some of the key benefits included in Software Assurance. Previously, only customers with Software Assurance would have been able to obtain the Azure Hybrid Benefit.
What are the main benefits in a nutshell?
- Maximum savings on Microsoft server workloads
- Access to Azure Hybrid Benefit (more cost savings) without having Software Assurance
- Access to some of the benefits of Software Assurance
- Free support by purchasing through the CSP program
