It’s here: Visual Studio 2022
News|12 November 2021
On 8 November 2021 Microsoft launched Visual Studio 2022. If you missed the launch event you can catch up on the sessions here.
What are the main highlights from the release?
Visual Studio 2022 is now a 64-bit application, allowing you to open, edit, run and debug large and complex solutions without running out of memory.
It's quicker and easy to build modern, cloud-based applications with Azure. There is now full support for .NET 6 and its unified framework for web, client, and mobile apps for both Windows and Mac developers. And, Visual Studio 2022 includes robust support for the C++ workload with new productivity features, C++20 tooling, and IntelliSense.
Hot Reload has also had an update so that you can edit either C++ or .NET projects while your application is running.
Intellicode has also seen improvements. It can now automatically complete code up to a whole line at a time and recognise when you are performing a common task and recommend the right Quick Action to complete it as you type.
